About Us

Emily Labowe Poppy Undies

My mom taught me how to embroider by hand a few years ago on a matzah cover. I immediately fell in love with the craft and the experience of thoughtfully creating pieces by hand, leading to the birth of Poppy Undies a year later. I have always been a creature of comfort, so I set out to make my dream undies- comfort without sacrificing sexiness.

Poppy Undies crafts flattering embroidered intimates with an emphasis on authenticity, minimalism, and mindfulness. Undies that look as good on you as they do in your drawer or on the floor!  Each piece is accented by embroidered hand-drawn designs that embrace nature, self-love, and acceptance. Thoughtfully made, these pieces are meant to celebrate the natural strength, confidence, and beauty within.

Poppy Paper is an art newspaper I published featuring works from prominent artists around the globe, who graciously shared their art, words, and imagery relating to themes of body, femininity, love, heart break, and self acceptance. Poppy Wear is a series of unisex pieces to be worn for comfort.

Poppy Undies launched in December 2020 with the intention of creating a sense of community, self love, and confidence through embroidered intimates, wear, and paper.

Production & Manufacturing

Poppy Undies are sustainably and responsibly produced in small batches in Los Angeles using high quality cotton. Many layers of ecological harm are caused by fast fashion practices cutting corners to rapidly produce mass quantities with low price points. We support and value worker rights and welfare by operating with factories and artisans in the local Los Angeles community.  Everything from production, to design and pattern making, to embroidery, are made locally.

Packaging

Poppy Undies is an environmentally minded company, striving to support the use of low waste packaging and recyclable materials whenever possible. Each pair of underwear arrives in a 100% recyclable kraft envelope. We have eliminated hang tags in an effort to lower our ecological footprint and minimize the use of unnecessary paper goods.  We continue to do our due diligence to reduce any negative social and environmental impacts, as Poppy grows and evolves.

With Love,

Emily
